Kitty Hawk Power Station in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, consists of two combustion turbine units that are fueled by oil.
The units are operated during times of peak customer demand for electricity — on the coldest days of winter and hottest days of summer. Kitty Hawk began commercial service in 1971.
