Dominion closed the State Line Power Station in Hammond, Indiana, in March 2012.
The company announced in 2011 that it would close the power station because it would be uneconomic to install environmental controls to meet new federal air emissions standards with the general downward pressure on wholesale power prices, primarily caused by lower natural gas prices in the marketplace, combined with higher coal prices.
State Line consisted of two coal-fired generating units that generated enough electricity to power about 128,000 homes, using Powder River Basin coal as its primary fuel.
