Whether your career goals are to reach journeymen level through one of Dominion's apprentice programs or move into a supervisory role, Dominion has a career path that is just right for you. Below you will find more information about some of Dominion's craft opportunities and typical qualifications.
- Auxiliary Equipment Operator - Receives and transfers coal from locomotive cars to outdoor storage piles.
- Control Room Operator or Trainee - Operates and monitors the turbine generator and reactor support systems or auxiliary equipment and systems within the control room and power station. Trainees observe while gaining the requisite knowledge and experience to become licensed Reactor Operators.
- Groundman or Lineman - Constructs or maintains Dominion's high voltage electrical lines.
- Electrician - Maintains, repairs, inspects, and troubleshoots the electrical equipment at our facilities (i.e. natural gas transmission compressor stations, power stations, or substations)
- Laborer/Casual Rouster - Performs general housekeeping and maintenance duties inside and outside of power stations or gas facilities.
- Mechanic - Performs maintenance activities on mechanical systems and components. Some examples of the role of a mechanic at Dominion are repairing or maintaining our vehicle fleet (i.e. bucket trucks) or working on the main units and equipment at one of our gas compressor stations.
- Meter Reader - Reads gas meters, identifies and reports leaks or meters that have been tampered with, and reports thefts of gas.
- Operator Trainee - Inspects, monitors, and tags power plant equipment for maintenance.
- Stock Helper - Responsible for work associated with the receipt, storage and issuance of materials in a warehouse setting.
- Welder - Utilizes various welding techniques to assist with the maintenance, installation, construction, or repairs at one our power stations or on high pressure natural gas pipeline.
