In-Home Electric Line Repair Terms and Conditions

Virginia

The In-Home Electric Line Repair Program (“Program”) covers the repair, restoration or replacement of components of a residential electrical system that fail due to normal wear and tear and is provided by Dominion Products and Services, Inc., hereinafter referred to as “Dominion”.

  1. Program will repair, restore or replace such components of the electrical system in the residence (single family dwelling or duplex) that fail from normal wear and tear. “Electrical system” will include wiring, switches, outlets, receptacles, boxes, fuses, breakers, or connectors, extending from the customer’s service entrance wiring at the service head or tap underground (customer-owned components) through the receptacle box or fixture box.
  2. Coverage under the Program starts after the first payment is received and enrollment in the program exceeds 30 days. Coverage continues thereafter so long as the customer makes timely payments. Customer payments prepay coverage under the Program. Coverage is suspended at the end of the prepaid period in cases of nonpayment. Customer’s account must be in good standing (current) to receive repair service under the Program.
  3. The following are excluded from coverage under the Program:
    • preexisting electric line problems or electric upgrades;
    • fixtures, appliances, appliance cords, extension cords, or light bulbs;
    • knob and tube wiring;
    • landscape, exterior lighting, or any other wiring leaving the primary dwelling;
    • electric lines serving secondary buildings not attached to the home (such as detached garages and storage sheds);
    • damage to electric lines caused by the willful or negligent action of the Customer or a third party, or by other insurable type cause;
    • utility owned equipment;
    • commercially owned electric systems;
    • damage due to an “Act of God.”
    Dominion retains the right to inspect the electrical system within sixty (60) days after receipt of the Customer’s enrollment.
  4. After line/electrical equipment is replaced or repaired, Program will provide general cleanup. Structural restoration is not included.
  5. Dominion shall have the right to modify the Program, from time to time, and will provide thirty (30) days written notice of material changes. Dominion shall also have the right to terminate the Program on ninety (90) days written notice.
  6. Dominion reserves the right to contract work to designated contractors on an as needed basis. Dominion does not assume responsibility for any work or repairs done by the Customer (or by the occupant of the residence if the Customer does not reside there), or by any third party without prior authorization by Dominion.
  7. By enrolling, the customer represents that, to the best of her/his knowledge, the electric system is free from any pre-existing problems or malfunctions.
  8. Dominion makes final judgment and reserves the right to establish coverage eligibility.
  9. Approved contractors must have safe access to, and safe working conditions at and around work area.
  10. The Program’s liability is limited solely to the repair or replacement of the in-home electrical system. The Program shall have no liability for any direct, indirect, special, incidental, consequential or other damages. The Program will not be responsible for damage caused by the customer, third parties, natural disasters, or other insurable causes.
